New Evapotranspiration Maps for Australia Published

The CRC for Catchment Hydrology and the Bureau of Meteorology have recently completed a project to produce national maps of evapotranspiration for Australia.
The maps consist of average annual and average monthly evapotranspiration for each of areal potential, point potential and areal actual evapotranspiration (39 maps). Morton's complimentary relationship areal evapotranspiration model was used to derive the values.

The New Evapotranspiration Maps are available in the following formats:
1. Internet
Low resolution image of each of the maps plus the map commentary.

2. Hard copy
A bound set of high resolution maps in A3 format plus commentary printed to a high quality. The map set also includes a transparent overlay of the AWRC river basins. This overlay simplifies the process of estimating evapotranspiration over river basins of interest. The cost of the map set is $33 plus packaging and postage.

3. Digital copy
A CD-ROM containing the following is available:
á High resolution images of the printed maps.
á Gridded data set for each of the maps (39 fields) for use in GIS
The cost is $10 per grid or $110 for each set of 13 grids (monthly and annual) of either areal actual, areal potential or point potential ET (in standard output format). A browser based interface to extract ET values for specific locations from the grids is currently under development. Electronic download of the above can also be arranged.
