Seeking mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists

The CRC for Catchment Hydrology is seeking young researchers that have recently completed an Honours degree in applied maths, physics, or computer science to join our Ph.D program in environmental modelling. Engineering graduates with a strong mathematical orientation are also encouraged to apply. We can offer a number of interesting modelling projects, some of which could involve laboratory or field experiments. Possible topics include:
á numerical and analytical modelling of water, salt and sediment movement through complex terrain
á numerical weather prediction
á development of advanced software tools to support environmental modelling
Closing date for this round of postgraduate scholarships is Friday 26 October 2001
(Please note positions are open to Australian or New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia only).

It is not necessary for candidates to have a background in environmental science. The CRC can provide a range of supervisors and course work to
assist candidates in developing skills in this area.

Postgraduate positions may be co-located at CSIRO Canberra, and at other sites including Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
