Abstract / Summary:
Preface
The material in this report is the product of a three-day workshop on Erosion in Forests held in Bermagui in March 1997. The workshop was organised by Project FO1, a core project in the Cooperative Research Centre for Catchment Hydrology (CRCCH) with collaboration from NSW Department of Land and Water Conservation.
The aim of the workshop was to draw together participants in forest research, management and environmental conservation to discuss scientific findings, implications and key issues for sustainable management. This was achieved through formal presentations, field-group discussions and experimental demonstrations in neighbouring Murrah State Forest near Bermagui.
The papers presented here, together with the executive summary of the research findings as specifically related to forest erosion management, provide a very useful compendium of current research and management issues. This aspect of our technology transfer program is of high priority within the CRCCH and the project team aim to provide similar forums in the future to communicate with interested stakeholders.
