OVERVIEW |
CRC Parties
The CRC brings together, in a collaborative joint venture:
What sort of commitment is made by the parties to the Centre?
The Parties are each making substantial commitments to the Centre, totalling some $40.9m over 7 years, with $7.3m of this in cash.
The grouping of these Parties in the CRC for Catchment Hydrology brings together a wide range of complementary skills and attributes. These include talented staff covering scientific disciplines, together with socio-economists, and experts in remote sensing and Geographical Information Systems. The Parties between them have large and comprehensive data bases to support our research initiatives, and have major extension capabilities to assist the two-way information flow.
Linkages between the participants
The whole-of-catchment approach, and the management of the Centre towards this, provides the focus for linkages between participants; these include:
- joint formulation of research projects (workshops of research and industry representatives)
- collaborative participation in research projects (all projects involve at least two Parties)
- the use of focus research sites (bringing research, industry, and regional representatives together)
- Project Review Panels (every 6 months)
- staff secondments from industry to research sites, and vice versa
- postgraduate supervisory panels (the previous CRC's policy of including non-university members on these will be continued)
- an annual CRC workshop in which all CRC participants meet for 3 days in a structured format to exchange information
- regular information exchange (Catchword,
e-mail lists)
CRC Associates
A number of organisations have joined the
Centre as Associates, giving them a direct link
to individual projects (whereas Parties are linked
to all projects).
